There’s nothing better than keeping your body in the right position. The posture of your body has a huge impact on your overall health, and it’s related to your digestion, overall health, respiratory system, stress, hormonal balance and mental clarity. Should we add more?
Improper body posture causes terrible back pain, poor blood circulation and tightness in chest.
You may think that the problem will disappear on it’s own, but truth is, you have to work on it, and doing this exercise is the best way to correct your body posture.
It soothes pain and tension in your back, neck and shoulders. If you can’t doing it following the instructions, you can do it while standing.
Have you ever heard of the locust pose? It’s also known as shalabhasana in yoga. It’s an exercise that strengthens muscles and gives brilliant effect. However, you have to consult your doctor if you deal with serious back issues.
How to do it?
First, lie down with your face downwards and the forehead close to the floor. Extend your legs and keep them hip-width apart.
Support your total weight on the top of your feet. Raise your upper body as high as you can, while keeping your head lifted. Inhale, and lift your head. Elevate your hands as you exhale. Keep your hands near the body, and make sure the palms are turned downwards.
Next, elevate your legs focusing on your thigh muscles, and bring your total weight on your lower ribs, pelvis and abdomen. Hold your body in this position for 10-60 seconds, and do 10-15 reps.
The locust pose is great for your body posture, and it also strengthens your legs, torso and back.
